The Fashion Lullaby's favourite picks of the 2012 Met Ball

Monday night was one of the most coveted events of the year: The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute annual gala benefit hosted by none other than the queen of fashion, Anna Wintour. This year it’s two highly renowned names of the fashion industry are put to honor in an exhibition entitled: “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations”. The exhibition has officially opened to the public today and until August 19th – for those in New York, NO excuse to miss it! Each year, the Met Ball gathers “la crème de la crème” , this opening night was no exception  - beautiful gowns, feathers, sparkles, a heaven for fashion enthusiasts. Last year, I was head over heels for a navy blue laced Erdem gown sported by the lovely Lily Donaldson! I’m happy to share with you my top 3 of this year’s Met ball.

In third place is the young model and Burberry muse: Cara Delevigne. She looked stunning in her sophisticated Burberry Porsum black velvet gown. What caught my eye was her beautiful jewelry signed Dominic Jones. The flying-beetle necklace was the little something added to perfect her Met ball look.

Dree Hemingway with the custom made Topshop sequin dress comes in second. The black sheer panels of the frock betrayed her lack of bra adding a sexy twist to the look. Fashion is fun and the edgy model succeeds in reminding us of it with her when-high-street-meets-chic look.

My favourite of the night is Diane Kruger. She rocked a deep purple Prada crepe silk chiffon gown. The simple v-neck cut is balanced by the ostrich feather border and the star looks fabulous. She completed her look with spot-on accessorizes, a pink embellished clutch (Prada), which created a lovely contrast with the purple, and a gorgeous gold “sautoir” by Fred Leighton that made her look like royalty.
